So far in the Chrysalids we have learned this story takes place in a small settlement called Waknuk. A highly religous town were being different is a blasphemy to God. In the story are protagonist David dreams of a futuristic city full of lights and machines, but in reality he just lives in a post nuclear frontier. We soon see the future of conflict in are story when David befriends a girl named Sophie who has twelve toes. Which he promises to keep a secret, but soon realizes it conflicts with everything he's been taught by his father. A highly religous man who believes different is evil. I predict that later his father will find out about his friend and then David and Sophie will have to run away in search of a more excepting community. Probably somewhere down in the badlans where the mutants live. Maybe he'll even find his magical city he dreams about.
And Remember
BEWARE THOU THE MUTANT!!!!!!
Good insights. You might want to read over your posts for grammatical errors, but otherwise it's topnotch.
ReplyDeleteI thought this was great tobius Waknuk is a weird name good job!!!!!!!:)
ReplyDeleteNice job! it was simply outlined and I like the prediction. I totally agree with the idea of running away. I never thought about where he would go, but when you said they would go to the badlands it all became clear. It's a really interesting thought. The warning is really weird, and I like how you ended your response with it. i enjoyed reading this!

ReplyDeleteGreat thoughts! I love how you tied this back to his vision from the beginning of the book. Do you think if David's father finds out about Sophie that David will run away with her? It would be hard to leave behind your whole family...
