Chrysalids Ch. 5-6

In chapters 5-6 we find are protagonist David enjoying his time with Sophie, but one day they get to careless at the beach. David convinces Sophie to take off her shoes and wade into the water with him, and she finally does. But once their in the water the blacksmiths son comes by and notices a footprint with an extra toe and deduces that its Sophies. He then immediately decides to report this blasphemy, but when he tries they knock him out and run to Sophies house. They tell her parents what happened, and they make the decision to flee. David askes to go with them, but is forced to stay. Once he gets home his father asks him if he knows anything about Sophie, but he plays ignorant. Causing his father to beat him as punishment. Afterwards he decides to run away, but tells his uncle Axel who warns him about the badlands, but ultimately tells him to do what he has to.

  1. This shows clear evidence that you have read the chapters (or at least found a good summary) however, I suggest that you include an opinion on the chapters in your next reflections blog.

  2. Great work! Do you think maybe David blames himself some for Sophie being caught? Do you have any predictions?
