Chrysalids Ch. 15-17

In the final chapters of the book are heroes are in a fringe town were the mutants plan to use Rosalind and the Petra for "breeding." David protests and is knocked unconscious, and thrown out. Thankfully Sophie his long lost friend is there and decide to help him rescue them. Sophie creeps into Gordon's tent and saves Rosalind and Petra, but informs them that they have to stay low for awhile. The girl from Sealand informs them that it will be eight and a half hours until she arrives. Meanwhile the Waknukians are approaching, and soon a battle ensues. In the heat of the battle Gordon shoots Joseph Strorm and kills him with a arrow. Then Spiderman tries to pick up Sophie and run away, but there both killed in a hail of arrows. Just as the battle is hitting its climax a fish like craft appears, and shoots down paralyzing webs to stop the fighting. The craft opens up and a women dressed in white comes out and frees them from the webs. David, Rosalind, and Petra board the craft, but Michael stays behind to go save Rachel from Waknuk. On their way to Sealand they hear everyone's thoughts below. So the book had a fairly happy ending, David and his friends finally get to their dream city and Petra is going to be trained to become a mind master. Hopefully Michael and Rachel make it too, but I guess we'll never know.

Ch. 11-12

In these chapters the town is suffering from deviations in their crops. Which puts everyone on edge. Petra has been growing and becoming more adventurous, until one day she takes her horse out into the woods and is attacke. She then calls all the gifted children to her and they save her from the deviation. Which makes David realize just how powerful his sister is, so her attempts to teach her how to control it. He later tells uncle Axel about it, and is warned to be ready to leave at any time. Soon after they find out that two of them have been captured and are being tortured for information. His fears are confirmed when Rosalind has to kill someone threatening their safety. So David, Petra, and Rosalind flee from Waknuk into the wilderness. David finds out that Petra is communicating with someone who seems to live in a city. My predictions are correct, and now Davids dad will hunt them down and maybe even kill some of them.

Chrysalids Ch. 7-8

Chapter seven and eight take place in Waknuk. Davids mother had a baby but had to wait to name it until it was certified as untainted. The inspector who certifies the baby is late making Davids father angry, but once he gets there he certifies her and everythings fine. They decide to name her Petra, and now David has a baby sister. Soon after Davids aunt comes by with news that she has a baby which is joyful news until they find out she hasnt certified it yet because its abnormal. She begs to use baby Petra's certificate to let her keep the baby, but is harshly denied and the next day is found dead in a stream with no baby in sight. Everyone soon stops talking about his aunt and moves on with their lives. David begins to hate his powers and pray for them to be taken away, but doesnt get his request. Later he talks to uncle Axel and finds out that the eighth child who went missing just died in a lumber accident, and soon David discovers who the other children are and they start forming a little group. My prediction is one will be captured and tortured for the identities of the rest of them, then stuff will go down.

Chrysalids Ch. 3-4

Previously on Chrysalids David and Sophia become friends, but Sophie is a mutant which causes David to question his beliefs.

In chapters three and four are protagonist David starts spending more time with Sofia who debates with him about the technologies the old people used to own. Soon he meets Sofia's father who is understandably untrusting of David because he's Joseph Strorms son. Who is a no nonsense religious leader who believes deformities of any kind are a sin, and must be cleansed. When David isn't hanging out with Sofia he sometimes sits on the porch talking to his cousin Rosalind telepathically, and is spotted by his uncle Axel who tells him to be careful and keep his power a secret. So David passes this information to all the other kids who have the same power, and they all agree to keep it a secret. Soon after the fringe dwellers plan to attack Waknuk, but the settlers counter attack and beat them back. Afterwards We are introduced to a new character named Angus Morton, David's uncle who seems to have more lenient view on deformities. Which I predict will cause problems in the future for David's father. At the end of the attack by the fringe dwellers they capture a few of them and once David see's them he is surprised by their lack of deformities. Which I think shows David questioning his upbringing, and ultimately guiding him towards his destiny.

Chrysalids Ch. 1-2

So far in the Chrysalids we have learned this story takes place in a small settlement called Waknuk. A highly religous town were being different is a blasphemy to God. In the story are protagonist David dreams of a futuristic city full of lights and machines, but in reality he just lives in a post nuclear frontier.  We soon see the future of conflict in are story when David befriends a girl named Sophie who has twelve toes. Which he promises to keep a secret, but soon realizes it conflicts with everything he's been taught by his father. A highly religous man who believes different is evil. I predict that later his father will find out about his friend and then David and Sophie will have to run away in search of a more excepting community. Probably somewhere down in the badlans where the mutants live. Maybe he'll even find his magical city he dreams about.
And Remember

 BEWARE THOU THE MUTANT!!!!!!
