Chrysalids Ch. 3-4

Previously on Chrysalids David and Sophia become friends, but Sophie is a mutant which causes David to question his beliefs.

In chapters three and four are protagonist David starts spending more time with Sofia who debates with him about the technologies the old people used to own. Soon he meets Sofia's father who is understandably untrusting of David because he's Joseph Strorms son. Who is a no nonsense religious leader who believes deformities of any kind are a sin, and must be cleansed. When David isn't hanging out with Sofia he sometimes sits on the porch talking to his cousin Rosalind telepathically, and is spotted by his uncle Axel who tells him to be careful and keep his power a secret. So David passes this information to all the other kids who have the same power, and they all agree to keep it a secret. Soon after the fringe dwellers plan to attack Waknuk, but the settlers counter attack and beat them back. Afterwards We are introduced to a new character named Angus Morton, David's uncle who seems to have more lenient view on deformities. Which I predict will cause problems in the future for David's father. At the end of the attack by the fringe dwellers they capture a few of them and once David see's them he is surprised by their lack of deformities. Which I think shows David questioning his upbringing, and ultimately guiding him towards his destiny.
And as always remember

 Blessed Be The Norm
